Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek healthcare. Most cases are non-specific and improve with appropriate treatment. Through the Wales Common Ailments Service, our pharmacists can provide advice and suitable pain relief free of charge.
Symptoms:
- Dull aching or sharp pain in the lower, middle or upper back
- Stiffness and reduced movement
- Pain radiating into the buttocks or down the leg (possible sciatica)
- Muscle spasms
Treatment at Knights Pharmacy:
We can supply paracetamol, ibuprofen or topical anti-inflammatory gels alongside evidence-based advice. Staying active — not resting in bed — is the single most effective thing for most back pain.
When to see your GP:
Call 999 immediately if you have any loss of bladder or bowel control. Also see your GP if pain followed an injury, is constant at night, or is accompanied by unexplained weight loss.
