Oral Thrush Treatment
Get free NHS oral thrush treatment at Knights Pharmacy in Wales — no GP appointment needed.
Oral thrush is a fungal infection of the mouth most common in babies, older adults and people taking antibiotics or steroid inhalers. Through the Wales Common Ailments Service, our pharmacists can provide free treatment.
Symptoms:
- White or cream-coloured patches inside the mouth — on the tongue, inner cheeks or palate
- Redness and soreness beneath the patches
- Difficulty eating or swallowing
- Cracking at the corners of the mouth
Treatment at Knights Pharmacy:
We can supply nystatin oral drops or gel for infants, miconazole oral gel for older children and adults, or a fluconazole capsule for more persistent cases. If you're breastfeeding, both you and your baby may need treatment simultaneously.
When to see your GP:
If symptoms don't respond to treatment within a week, or if you have recurrent episodes.
