Mouth Ulcer Treatment
Get free NHS mouth ulcer treatment at Knights Pharmacy in Wales — no GP appointment needed.
Mouth ulcers are small but very painful. Through the Wales Common Ailments Service, our pharmacists can provide treatments to relieve discomfort and speed up healing — free of charge.
Symptoms:
- Painful, round sores with a white or yellow centre and red border
- Soreness when eating, drinking or talking
- Ulcers on the tongue, inner cheeks or lips — singly or in clusters
Treatment at Knights Pharmacy:
We can supply corticosteroid pellets or paste to reduce inflammation, protective gel (e.g. Orabase) to shield the ulcer, chlorhexidine mouthwash to prevent secondary infection, and local anaesthetic gel for immediate pain relief.
When to see your GP:
If an ulcer lasts more than 3 weeks without healing, or if you notice any unusual lumps or persistent white/red patches in your mouth.
