Colic Advice & Treatment

Get free NHS colic advice at Knights Pharmacy in Wales — no GP appointment needed.

Colic — intense, inconsolable crying in an otherwise healthy baby — affects around one in five infants and always passes. Through the Wales Common Ailments Service, our pharmacists can provide practical advice and appropriate treatment free of charge.

Symptoms:

  • Intense crying lasting more than 3 hours a day, more than 3 days a week
  • Baby drawing up their legs or arching their back
  • Flushed face and clenched fists
  • Crying typically worse in the late afternoon or evening

Treatment at Knights Pharmacy:

We can supply simeticone drops (e.g. Infacol) to help disperse trapped wind, or lactase drops where lactose sensitivity may be a factor. We'll also advise on winding technique and feeding position.

When to see your GP:

If your baby is not gaining weight, is vomiting frequently, has blood in their stools, or seems unwell in other ways beyond the crying.
