Intertrigo Treatment

Get free NHS intertrigo treatment at Knights Pharmacy in Wales — no GP appointment needed.

Intertrigo is a skin irritation that develops in skin folds — under the breasts, in the groin, armpits or abdomen. It's common, treatable, and nothing to be embarrassed about. Through the Wales Common Ailments Service, we can provide appropriate treatment free of charge.

Symptoms:

  • Red, raw or itchy rash in a skin fold
  • Burning or stinging sensation
  • Cracked, weeping or scaly skin
  • Unpleasant odour if a secondary infection is present

Treatment at Knights Pharmacy:

We can supply antifungal cream (clotrimazole or miconazole), topical antibiotic cream if needed, and zinc oxide barrier cream to protect the skin. Keeping the area clean, dry and friction-free is essential — we'll advise on this.

When to see your GP:

If the rash is spreading rapidly, very painful, or not improving after 2–4 weeks of appropriate treatment.
