Nappy Rash Treatment

Get free NHS nappy rash advice at Knights Pharmacy in Wales — no GP appointment needed.

Nappy rash is very common and is not a sign of poor care. Through the Wales Common Ailments Service, our pharmacists can provide treatment and practical advice free of charge.

Symptoms:

  • Red, sore or puffy skin in the nappy area
  • Baby seeming uncomfortable or distressed during nappy changes
  • In more severe cases, broken or weeping skin
  • Bright red rash with small satellite spots may suggest a fungal infection

Treatment at Knights Pharmacy:

We can supply zinc oxide or petroleum jelly-based barrier cream to protect the skin, antifungal cream (clotrimazole) if a Candida infection is suspected, and mild hydrocortisone for significant inflammation. Nappy-free time is one of the most effective remedies.

When to see your GP:

If the rash is very severe, spreading beyond the nappy area, or your baby has a fever or seems unwell in other ways.
